Tips For Car Extended Warranty Shopping

Tips For Car Extended Warranty Shopping
By David Cunningham

One of the best things about getting a new car is having a mind that is free of worry about breakdowns and various other car problems. It is important to remember, however, that no car is perfect and, down the line, there are bound to be some problems. A car extended warranty is the best way to be protected against anything that could go wrong, but it is important to go about buying one in the right way.

It may seem logical to buy a car warranty from the dealership, but this is actually a fast track to spending way more money than is necessary on a car extended warranty. Dealerships tend to mark up extended car warranties by as much as a thousand dollars, and that is not the only problem. They can also make it very difficult to get a claim approved when something goes wrong. Car warranty companies typically provide much better service at a far more reasonable rate.

After signing the check for a down payment, spending money on a car extended warranty might seem like a bit of a financial stretch. However, it is far more financially responsible to buy the vehicle warranty right away instead of waiting until the car is a bit older. As a car ages and puts on more mileage, a company will see it as a risk and charge a great deal more to cover it.

When it comes to the actual car extended warranty, there are a few important features that nobody should ever go without. In case of an emergency, it is important to have roadside assistance and towing included. It is also important to make sure that someone from the company will be available at any time of any day in case something goes wrong with the car.

One of the most important features of extended car warranties is coverage for wear and tear. Before signing anything, it is important to find out if this is included and, if so, what exactly falls under the category of wear and tear. This can be a grey area and misunderstanding it could cost thousands in car repairs down the line.

Anyone who purchases a new car should also consider purchasing a car extended warranty for their vehicle. However, they should not just sign the one that is put in front of them by the dealership. Keeping these few simple tips in mind will save money and frustration if and when something does go wrong with the vehicle.

What Level Of Knowledge Is Required To Complete My Own Cobra Kit Car At Home

This article content was written for US Direct Protect by
Factory Five Racing

So, you've been looking at some of the awesome kit cars at car shows and you have caught the bug. Excellent! Next comes the realization that building a car from the ground up is a major undertaking and you wonder if you have the required skills and knowledge. Well my friend you have arrived at the right place to help you answer that question and I am confident that you can do build your own car!

The first thing to realize is that if you purchase a modern kit as the start point for your build it will typically include everything you need to build the car except perhaps the drive line so you will not be required to spend hundreds of hours cruising the junk yards, flea markets and swap meets looking for parts that you hope will fit and work.

In these tight times it may be that your budget will not allow you the luxury of using all new parts to build your kit car. If that is your case, take heart as there are many kits out there that are specifically engineered to use the parts from a single donor car. These kits are an excellent alternative in as much as they are engineered in such a way as to ensure that all of the parts from the donor car are a direct no-hassle bolt on to the kit cars chassis. Of course if you take the donor car route, the money you will save will to a degree be off set by the time you invest in cleaning up and refurbishing the parts prior to installing them on your car. Systems such as the brakes, for example, which are designed to wear out you will want to at a minimum replace the pads and shoes prior to installing on your car. Even with this added expense you can expect to save at least half over what it would cost you to buy all new parts for your build and at the end of the day the finished car will be every bit as good as a car built with all new parts.

So, now that we have the money issue covered - sort of, lets talk about your personal abilities, skills and knowledge. The first thing you need to understand about a kit car purchased today is that it will have been designed with modern CAD design software which unlike kits of even 10 years ago means that everything will fit as advertised without your having to break out a welder or other special equipment to modify the frame in order to get the part to actually fit where it is supposed to go. As a result you should not require any special tools beyond what the typical home mechanic would have in his tool box.

If the thought of building a car from the ground seems completely overwhelming, stick with me here as I am about to put this into perspective for you. Try thinking about the entire project as if it were a huge plate of spaghetti and meat balls. When you are initially presented with it the concept of eating the entire plate in a single bite seems like, and in fact is an impossibility. However if you start with one noodle, wrap it around you fork, pop it in your mouth, chew swallow and repeat until done, in no time at all what initially seemed impossible is not only possible it is done. This basic pne step at a time process is precisely how building you kit car will be accomplished - one step at a time. Typically you start by bolting the steering and front suspension to the chassis following the manufacturers instructions. Once complete move to the rear suspension, repeat the process bolt on wheels and tires and voila you have a roller in a couple of evenings work!

With the help of the manufacturers manual, using this same step by step approach will walk you through all of the cars other systems including the Brakes, Fuel system and wiring. While we are on the subject of the wiring I should point out that even experienced professional mechanics are terrified of having to wire a car and it is so unnecessary. With today's modern wiring harnesses having each wires purpose stencilled on the wire every 5 or 6 inches it is actually quite simple to wire an new car. Just like the plate of spaghetti one wire at a time and before you know it you are done. Once you have completed the wiring and everything is working you will look back on it and realize that project was no harder than any other aspect of the build so far.

Obviously in this short article there are many aspects of building a kit car that I have not elaborated on, but what you need to know is that in my 14 years of working with guys building kit cars I have had more than one guy that started the project having never changed a tire in their lives and not owning so much as a screw driver and in all cases not only did they complete the car in more than one save they went on to build several.

So, in summary, if you have always had a hankering to build your own car and been put off by your perception that you do not have the skills knowledge or tools I encourage you in the strongest possible way to think of the plate of spaghetti and Just-Do-It.

Where do I get parts for my kit car? Factory Five Racing What tools do I need to have to build A kit car? How hard is it to build a kit car?

Choosing The Best Auto Warranty For Any Automobile
by Bobbie Jean Dilernia

Several extended warranty packages are readily available to save car owners the maximum amount of money for their unique situations. A warranty-buyer definitely needs to read through the specifications of a contract before making a purchase. Considering its conditions will help the buyer to choose the best car warranty for the investment.

Most new cars come with their own original warranties when purchased. Therefore, duplicate coverage is probably not necessary. However, for used cars, consider its unique characteristics - reasons to purchase an extended warranty include the make/model, previous care, and age or condition. Be sure to choose the best car warranty in terms of these specific facets; otherwise, needless costs may be paid and the right amount of coverage may not be achieved.

A buyer should then decide roughly how long a car will be kept. Some vehicles are temporary replacements, while others are long-term family investments. The more impermanent vehicles, obviously, will need a less extensive time on their warranty. Meanwhile, a car owner with a longer intended ownership might want to splurge on a longer coverage package. Choosing too long of a deal can be a definite culprit of causing a buyer to spend too much.

The deductible is also a significant deciding factor. Policies with zero deductibles exist, but otherwise, the costs do vary. A buyer should never pay too much for a deductible when choosing a policy. These add up quickly, even in terms of general maintenance visits, and a buyer shouldn't have to pay much on top of an already purchased policy.

If a buyer is looking for a few specific features of a warranty, he or she should know that roadside assistance and car towing should be free in a good policy. These often come with lock-out coverage as well. A good plan is also transferable between owners and is in effect immediately, especially if the owner plans to sell the car eventually. There are also situations where a rental car might be needed, so free car rental is a big feature to look for in a plan as well.

A person who is in search of the best car warranty for his or her vehicle definitely has to do some research. Whether or not the vehicle is new, the intended use of the car, and the deductible are all substantial aspects in the buying process. Without considering such details, the buyer will most likely end up overpaying.

Vehicle Warranties and Used Car Warranty are US Direct Protect and Car Service Contracts specialty. They meet or beat any Car Warranty offer. They have an A on the BBB so you can purchase with peace of mind. US Direct Protect uses licensed software to shop for the best rates. Visit today for a free quote.

Extended Car Warranties Can Extend the Life of Your Car http://ping.fm/cdTYM

Extended Car Warranties Can Extend the Life of Your Car

Extended Car Warranties Can Extend the Life of Your Car

Most people consider the economical advantages of purchasing a used vehicle: lower price, inexpensive insurance. However, the lower upfront costs can disappear with a huge repair bill that typically is not an immediate concern with a new car purchase. High mileage and the uncertainty of how the vehicle was maintained in the past can leave you stranded with a major mechanical breakdown. The solution to these potential problems is extended auto warranties which provide repair coverage for your vehicle beyond the regular manufacturer’s warranty. The savings on the cost of eExtended auto warranties is best realized if you plan to keep your car for a number of years.

Generally, extended auto warranties are purchased when you buy your car. Dealers will offer the warranty when you are signing the financing paperwork, offering either a manufacturer’s or aftermarket extended warranty. Most people decline the extended warranty offer to avoid an additional upfront expense. Some extended warranty contracts can be purchased later without incurring penalties. This is good to know in order to avoid the pressure of purchasing eExtended auto warranties too soon. This also gives you a chance to research other options that may or may not be available. Your primary objective is to save money. Having an extended warranty to cover the unpredictable timing of a vehicle breakdown is a good reassurance to have when it is needed.

Whether you decide to purchase the manufacturer or the aftermarket extended warranty, there are a few things to consider. The manufacturer’s warranty typically can be used at any authorized dealer. Using the aftermarket warranty is limited to the dealer where you originally purchased the vehicle. Some warranties require that you pay out-of-pocket expenses beyond a deductible, and filing a claim for reimbursement. This defeats the purpose of having extended warranty coverage for an unexpected expense. Therefore, read the fine print before signing on the dotted line.

Most extended warranties through the manufacturer provide smoother transaction experiences that avoid delays in getting your car repaired. Only on rare occasions are repairs not approved. Different levels of coverage come with both the manufacturer and aftermarket eExtended auto warranties. Some warranties cover the cost of parts, while others have a time and mileage level that varies depending on which plan you select. If you think your mileage will increase over a short period of time, the high mileage plan might be your best option. However, the lower mileage plan might work best if you do not anticipate high mileage and plan to keep your care for a long time.

Maintaining your vehicle can come with an expensive price tag. Extended auto warranties can be a lifesaver when you understand the terms and conditions of the warranty contract.

US Direct Protect is one of few Extended Warranty Companies recommended by the BBB

Don`t Be a Bonehead, Get Your Car Covered

The price of putting back together a damaged car by dealers and repair shops is increasing, so protecting you, your family, and your investment from unexpected costs is a must. automobile salesman or third party companies make this possible through auto warranty policies that are sold. Some of these contracts only cover major damages, like mechanical breakdowns. However, an Auto Warranty with wear and tear coverage protects the vehicle from damages caused by every day use.

Only some warranties offer wear and tear as an option as part of their car warranties. Many parts of a car wear down over time, and they are often the most likely pieces that need to be replaced. If a part wears out prematurely, wear and tear coverage will cover it. These parts include joints, wheel bearings, and engine parts. These may not be covered under a general mechanical breakdown warranty.

Extended vehicle Warranties takes care of most of the money to fix a car when it fails you. Often, they have a deductable that usually ranges in price from $100 to $300. For many new cars, or dependable models, the car breaking down is an unlikely occurrence. They cover the vehicle's mechanical and electrical components, but not the fees associated with everyday use.

Both types of Extended car Warranties are meant to protect car owners from incurring thousands of dollars worth of bills after the original warranty expires. However, one offers far more coverage than the other does. Policies that cover wear and tear issues help the owner of the car protect against the cost of components that wear down over time and that are beyond the manufacturer's tolerances.

To protect against costly repairs and every day costs of operating a car, people should consider adding wear and tear coverage to their Car Service Contract. The covered part does not need to break before it is covered. It can be replaced under this type of auto repair warranty. This keeps cars in good shape and prolongs the life of the automobile, which saves even more money over time.

Extended Car Warranties Are Crucial In Todays Economy

Any driver can vouch for the fact that repairs and maintenance on a car are inevitable and often costly. That being said, when purchasing a car, why not be prepared for the unavoidable? When the coverage provided by a dealership's initial warranty runs out, it is best to have an extended warranty. After all, issues with vehicles do not necessarily cease after the first year of owning a car.

All dealerships have their initial warranties that they offer to their customers at the time of their purchase. Yet these warranties don't last forever, obviously. Usually they protect the vehicle for a few thousand miles or a specific number of months. This keeps the customer happy, seeing as anything that goes wrong with their new car will not have to be paid for out of pocket. It also gives the dealership a way to establish their confidence in the quality of their vehicles.

It is when these initial warranties expire that the extended warranty can take over. The owner of the vehicle is then left with an additional contract that covers the vehicle wholly so the customer can continue be at ease. Insurance companies back these warranties so the financial issues imparted upon the buyer are minimal. For example, the monthly payments are often quite low, including when the deductible is low itself.

An extended warranty provides peace of mind in other aspects as well. Should the vehicle have an unexpected breakdown, the warranty will usually provide roadside assistance for little or no additional cost. Towing is included in this as well. They also usually can be switched to another owner if perhaps the vehicle is sold. Another benefit is the fact that rental cars are often quite cheap or free under these plans.

These contracts make filing a claim as painless as possible on the owner of the vehicle under warranty. All that is required is for a licensed repair facility to make contact with a claims administrator so that the repair of the damage can be authorized. The car owner will then only need to pay the deductible instead of fronting the money for the entire bill out-of-pocket and waiting to be compensated. How to Choose the Right Auto Warranty

Anyone who has purchased a car at a dealership has been urged to purchase an extended warranty by a salesperson. An auto warranty can be a great way for drivers to protect themselves, their wallets, and their investments from the rising costs of car repairs and maintenance fees. However, it is important to choose the right package so that drivers are not overpaying for coverage they do not need. The best way to determine the proper extended car warranty is to thoroughly read the brochures and match the vehicle to the one that is deemed most appropriate.

Auto Warranties are big money makers for car dealerships. Part of the salespersons job is to sell the most expensive auto warranty to the customer. Often, they will oversimplify what is included in the package to make people think they are getting more than they actually are. It is the customers job to check and recheck the paperwork to determine exactly what is covered under the cost of the warranty.

For example, a salesperson may tell the customer that everythingis covered in a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty. However, wear and tear parts are not actually included. If the customer does not do the necessary research they might be very surprised to learn the parts and labor of their new brakes are not covered by the warranty company. In this case, the owner of the car is responsible for paying the full amount to the auto shop after all.

Another tip for finding the most cost-effective policy is by searching online for auto warranty deals. There are many third party companies that sell comprehensive car warranty packages at competitive rates. Shopping around for the best prices is worth the time and energy in the long run because it saves money and protects the drivers investment.

Regardless of where a person buys the auto warranty package, there is one important step that must be taken in order to choose the right plan: read the material in detail. The fine print of these documents may be daunting to read, but it is important for customers to understand exactly what they are buying in order to make an informed decision.

An Extended Warranty can make or break the bank when it comes to maintenance and repair costs. If a person overpays for unnecessary coverage they defeat the purpose of a warranty plan. On the other hand, a package that does not offer enough coverage will cost more money in the long run. It is important to make sure you buy the right car warranty to get the most out of the purchase.

How To Be a Tough Guy When Buying An Extended Car Warranty

When you first hear about the offer of extended coverage from your dealer, you most likely make excuses as to why your not accepting the opportunity. It may be your budget, but its most likely because you think its a scam. While this may be true of some brokers deciding to take the extended warranty could indeed prove to be a positive decision too if you get your Auto Warranty from a company like Auto Warranty 411.

It is the truth that an extended car warranty can ultimately be very expensive. Costly warranties are frequently discovered to not be a good deal because dealers will oftentimes build their commission right into the price. Furthermore, this explains why they may possibly be forceful in encouraging a buyer to pay for the extended warranty. It is understandable why this tactic might scare a prospective customer away.

Regardless, the dealership is often right about one thing: opting against buying the warranty could lead to a downward spiral for the new car owner should they encounter an accident. It is not true, though, that one can only purchase an extended car warranty from the car's original dealership. In fact, it is a buyer's best bet to shop around for private agencies who sell their own, cheaper deals on extended warranties. These are the wiser option to choose and the main solution for a buyer's intimidation.

Purchasing an extended warranty from a company outside the dealership can prove to work to a buyer's advantage. The deductibles are particularly low, especially in contrast to the high repair costs, and the monthly payments are manageable as well. In the long run, the purchaser will find that he or she has actually saved money rather than the original notion that this might be a scam.

When faced with an actual issue with the vehicle, the driver will see how it not only makes the process more budget-friendly, but less time-consuming and difficult as well. The vehicle will merely need to be brought to an ASE-qualified mechanic to be fixed. The only personal cost to the driver is still just the deductible, and all other phases of the process are in the hands of the warranty agency.

All in all, it is understandable why a car shopper might be convinced not to get the extended car warranty that is suggested when buying an automobile. The dealer's desire to make commission also makes them come off as pushy and talks a potential customer out of the purchase. However, if a good deal is found elsewhere, these warranties will show for themselves that they can be rather beneficial

Aftermarket Automobile Parts : An Economical Boon.

Car parts that are not manufactured by authorized dealers are known as aftermarket auto parts. Aftermarket auto parts materialized in the 1980s when the outsourcing explosion hit, maximum car manufacturers outsourced parts manufacturing to outsourcing elsewhere. A few people sold the manufactured parts indirectly to the car market. This is how the business of aftermarket auto parts was born.

In comparison with OEM parts, aftermarket is much cheaper. Many people argue that the high cost of OEM parts is only because of elevated franchise fees charged to the companies that manufacture the parts. Whatever said and done, most people with a good economical sense opt for aftermarket auto parts. When chosen from the right source, aftermarket parts can transform a vehicle both in terms of performance and manifestation.

We often observe that the quality of an aftermarket part is better than an authorized part. We can end up with a better part than the one we had earlier, if we go for a replacement. The aftermarket part companies specialize in "reverse engineering". They break apart the original part and perfect the weaknesses, coming out with an altogether new product.

Aftermarket parts have an array of alternatives. There is an awe-inspiring variety of companies to choose from. But we need to exercise caution and gather as much information as we can to end up with the best kind of aftermarket part as many of the cheaper aftermarket companies can be misleading.

One more place where aftermarket parts score over original parts is the availability. Authorized dealers take a long time to deliver the replacement parts and an even longer time to install the said part. But on the other hand aftermarket parts are always available easily and they take a short while to modify your car to suit your needs.

There is just one small catch with the purchase of aftermarket parts. Also the use of an aftermarket part in a vehicle cancels the vehicle's warranty. Also some aftermarket parts are illegal in some areas. Like window tinting and a few modified exhausts. We need to make sure we are following the guidelines and not breaking our region's rules when we install aftermarket auto parts.

Some base models of cars are not fully outfitted. Aftermarket auto parts can come in very handy to make the car appear as a better model with improved performance and functioning. Damage does not have to be the only reason to change auto parts. We can use aftermarket auto parts to give our cars a fresh look and more power.

Aftermarket components are very popular and in demand these day. They are in the reach of anyone who wants to get them and they give the common man the power to have an improved ride. People these days prefer to buy basic cars and modify them into hybrid cars with unique looks and power to suit their use. Even when cars tend to get damaged in accidents people choose aftermarket parts as they are cheaper. Aftermarket parts are here to stay.

Even A Rise In Hertz Car Rental Rates Will Not Deter Customers

More and more car rentals are there for you. We know that there is certainly some bad news for those people that are planning on renting a car from Hertz in Australia. Sadly, Hertz car rental rates have been raised by about five Australian dollars on a daily rental basis and by up to thirty dollars per week at all Hertz car rental locations in the length and breadth of Australia.

Increase In Gasoline Costs

Such a rise in Hertz car rental rates has come about because of the increase in gas prices and also because costs of vehicle maintenance as well as depreciation costs have risen and this coupled with a decline in the resale value of used vehicles as well as decreasing rental revenues has forced Hertz to increase the Hertz car rental rates in Australia.

Still, the solid reputation enjoyed by Hertz will ensure that customers continue to flock to it despite the increase in Hertz car rental rates in Australia. For those people that want to beat such increases in Hertz car rental rates the best course of action is to check for the less well known deals being offered by Hertz and in fact you need to also check hotels and airlines and even car companies that have a tie-up with Hertz as this will ensure that you can get a good Hertz car rental rate.

You will do well to also check out sites such as Jetblue.com where you can find some exciting Hertz car rental rates including the ten dollar off per day for Hertz car rentals for the weekend. This means you get a chance to save up to maximum of thirty dollars and furthermore you can also get additional discounts when you rent a vehicle at a participating airport and also at off airport locations in the United States, Canada and in Puerto Rico.

Another option that you can get in regard to discounted Hertz car rental rates at JetBlue is a thirty-five dollar off on the weekly Hertz car rental rates. If this inspires you to look for cheap car rentals then you will do well to check out rental companies that offer their cars to students at very low rates. In addition, you can also look for deals in which the car rental company offers very low cost car rentals to families that wish to rent a car for special occasions and it is not surprising to learn that a company that offers these cheap deals is the one called Dirt Cheap Car Rentals

There are something about the car insurace quote on the car rentals you should know to get your contracts improved.

How To Be Smart When Buying An Auto Warranty

How To Be Smart When Buying An Auto Warranty
by Pat Moore

All too often do customers of car dealerships talk themselves out of purchasing an extended car warranty. These warranties can be unaffordable, and the benefits are sometimes excessive, leaving the buyer to wonder if it will ever get used to the merit of the cost. Regardless of these facts, one should not immediately reject the concept, since there are many positive aspects as well.

When buying a car, the salesman often offers a standard and extended warranty. The extended warranty costs extra, and can typically be expensive. To make matters worse, the car dealer is usually pushing the importance of the extended warranty with a disquieting vigor, causing a customer to wonder why. It is usually because the commission for selling an extended car warranty can be built right in, but this tactic can often cause a customer to quickly decline.

However, regardless of sales tactics, deciding against getting an extended car warranty could cause the buyer to face exposure. Should unexpected damage to the vehicle occur, the driver may find him or herself without a source of funds and therefore in a bad financial state of affairs. However, it is not true that one must purchase the extended warranty from the dealership. Private companies sell extended warranties, too, which are in most cases a better deal. In short, a buyer's solution to intimidation of the salesman is simply to shop around.

Shopping around for different, cheaper warranties will actually prove to the buyer that these can definitely be a worthwhile investment. Unlike the extended car warranty offered at a dealership, buying from a private agency will be cheaper and more efficient. The monthly fees will be relatively low, as will the deductibles. The extended warranty will actually end up saving the driver money in comparison to the cost of repairs.

Any issue with a vehicle, minor or major, can be solved easily under warranty. The car must simply be taken to a qualified facility for repair and pay the low deductible rate. From that point on, the driver needs not worry - the rest of the situation will be left up to the warranty company and the mechanics. It will be cheap and effortless, setting the car owner's mind at ease.

A buyer should never let the pushiness of a warranty salesman talk him or her out of purchasing an extended car warranty altogether. Instead, browse the offers of other warranty agencies and find the best deal. Overall, while purchasing from the dealership could be a waste of money, purchasing a private warranty can make owning a car much easier on the wallet.

Regular Transmission Service Can Protect Your Engine

For most car owners, having their tires rotated and getting oil changes at an auto repair shop are simple ways to keep their vehicles in working order. But like timing belt inspections and fuel-filter replacements, transmission services are often overlooked in lieu of more obvious issues. Whether it's a fluid replacement or a full system flush, having regular service performed can help protect the system from damaging contaminants - and lessen the likelihood of expensive repairs in the future.

For manual and automatic cars alike, the transmission is a key component for the engine's performance and needs to be maintained on a regular basis. This system is responsible for sending power from the engine to the wheels, providing multiple gears that are activated as driving conditions change. The fluid that runs through the transmission, meanwhile, is important for keeping it lubricated and cool.

In automatic vehicles, transmission fluid breaks down over time from the high internal heat; in manual cars, it can get contaminated by gears and other parts wearing out. What happens if the fluid isn't replaced on schedule? The life of the transmission can be reduced if dirty fluid is allowed to run through the component, as it could contain metal shavings and other loose bits of metal and dirt.

The best way to keep the system in good condition and prevent later problems is by servicing it according to your manufacturer's maintenance schedule. For manual vehicles, service every 30,000 to 60,000 miles is usually recommended, while automatic vehicles have a suggested interval of 60,000 to 100,000 miles. A general transmission service often consists of a fluid replacement, in which the liquid in the pan is drained and replaced. But because this process only actually replaces about 40 percent of the fluid, mixing the new with the old, a transmission flush is sometimes a better option. A pressurized flush completely replaces everything in the system, cleaning out all the components and also helping to find any cracks or leaks as the fluid is washed out of the compartment. However, the pressure from this service can be harmful in older vehicles, and can even blow out system seals or cause blockages with dislodged debris.

To prevent any damage to the system, an auto repair professional should determine what the best method is for your vehicle. It can cost upwards of $1,800 to replace a transmission; following a consistent maintenance schedule can extend the life of the part and ensure that it runs as smoothly as possible.

Ferrari 2+ Seater!

Ferrari can do many things other car companies cannot, including building a machine that links past with present and that tries, however successfully, to be the fastest car to the market and back. The Ferrari California, premiering in 2008, takes its name from a 50-year-old classic while introducing some modern-day developments. It's the first Ferrari to sport a retractable hardtop, to rock a dual-clutch 7-speed transmission, and the first to wield a front-engine V8. It's also got something called backseats, which seems like a cute concept for a Ferrari -- a "2+" is the technical term. And as a result of this transmission it presents at least one last: The last Ferrari to offer a manual gearbox. It's a natural classic, all good looks and serious performance, and it's got a foot in the present and the past.

This is a Ferrari after all, and it makes no apologies for conceding a few extra seats. The eight cylinders get you to 60 from a standstill in just under four seconds, well on its way to 193 mph, an impressive speed that is the result of long hours in a wind tunnel.

Its link to the past is right there in the name -- the California is so named for the 250 GTs that awed a 20th-century world in the late '50s. It ended its life by sailing out a window, a scene which horrified the Ferrari cognoscenti in audiences across America -- who may still have unnecessary nightmares, as the car in that film was a replica. There were fewer than a hundred 250GTs made, and as a result they were valuable cars.

So the new series, which could just as easily have been called the "Utah" or the "Connecticut," adopts the name of that 50-year-old classic and lays in all the new gadgetry of this, the modern era. Performance is turn-of-the-century, too: zero to 60 in a shade under four seconds, a top speed of 193 mph, and due to long hours in a wind tunnel, the most aerodynamic car Ferrari's ever built.

But in the canon of Ferrari's aggressively powerful cars, the California has already gotten a bit of a rep for being nice. It's lovely, but not shockingly so. So while it's a bit peculiar for a Ferrari, it's still a breathtaking machine when compared to gosh, anything with a backseat. Just make sure you call shotgun at least once. And while the front end brings to mind, say, a dignified Aston-Martin, the rear gets a lot of grief for being a bit too big.

But Ferrari was serious when it decided to build a car that could perform but could also fit a small child (say, the child of your mistress) in the back seat. A little something for everyone, it seems. Everyone who has $230,000 and a wish to take your best normal-sized friend and your best small friends for an exhilarating trip

Narrowing Down The Best Vehicle Warranty

Narrowing Down The Best Vehicle Warranty
by Bonnie Reinhardt

Nobody wants to have to worry about their car constantly being in need of sudden, expensive trips to the mechanic. For a car owners peace of mind, there is a wide range of extended warranty packages accessible for protection from these costs. However, choosing the best car warranty requires a little research, because a buyer can easily get stuck with too much or not enough coverage.

Potential factors in choosing a car warranty are age, model, and previous owners. For example, it is probably not crucial to buy another warranty package for a new vehicle because they do come with original coverage. However, when looking into the history of a used car, decide whether a car seems to be vulnerable to unpredictable damage - this is a case where an auto repair warranty is probably a wise investment.

To avoid a bad situation with not enough or too much time offered by a warranty, car owners should acknowledge how long they plan to have a car. Extended warranties come in a variety of coverage periods, and needless to say, they get pricier as they get longer. Some car owners may not even need to purchase the extended warranty package, and this is one of the main ways a large sum of money can be saved.

Smoken Ferrari California

The Ferrari California offered a number of firsts upon its debut in 2008. The Ferrari California, premiering in 2008, takes its name from a 50-year-old classic while introducing some modern-day developments. A front-engine V8. It's also got something called backseats, which seems like a cute concept for a Ferrari -- a "2+" is the technical term. The $230,000 auto is called a "grand tourer" I suppose for this reason, though you'd better find some small friends or very young children if you want to do any grand touring without major leg circulation issues. Anyway who wants to deal with complaints from the backseat?

This is a Ferrari after all, and it makes no apologies for conceding a few extra seats. Oh, and you're of course invited to come along.

Speaking of flying, you probably remember the California's ancestors from a movie called "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." The mythic car in that film was a (say it with me now) 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder.

But anyway yes the new California gets its name from those cars of yore, and while it's sure a fine product from those Italian fellows, it seems to have gotten a lot of gossip about being a "nice" car.

But in the canon of Ferrari's aggressively powerful cars, the California has already gotten a bit of a rep for being nice. And this is partly in the design -- a car that can do many things well, and most of them better than almost every other car on the road. So while it's a bit peculiar for a Ferrari, it's still a breathtaking machine when compared to, gosh, anything with a backseat. Just make sure you call shotgun at least once. And while the front end brings to mind, say, a dignified Aston-Martin, the rear gets a lot of grief for being a bit too big.

Buying A Hybrid Car To Save On Gas

By Colin Jones

As you drive up to the gas pump and fuel your car up with $10-$50 worth of gas, you may find yourself heaving a long drawn out sigh. How on Earth did fuel get to be so expensive? Should you consider one of those new hybrid cars you saw on the TV? Everyone's talking about hybrid cars anyway. Hybrid cars and other types of cars may seem to be a good idea, but before you go out and do something you'll regret, maybe you should ask yourself some questions about how you can begin to save on petrol.

There are many options out there that include everything from staying home to purchasing a hybrid car, but you have to find out what's right for you. You can only do that by asking yourself the following questions.

Perhaps you should drive less often?

For sure, you could spend the rest of your life at home on the couch, but how would you get by then? I know what you're thinking! You will walk more and so get more exercise. That could be true, but what will happen when you get bored with walking and riding your bike? How are you going to be able to get to the gym then? And, have you forgotten about work? You know you love listening to your books on tape while you are sitting in traffic at the end of the workday. Should you drive less? Probably not then. But what should you do? Well, have you ever considered buying a hybrid car?

Should I buy a car that gets more miles for less gas?

Yes, you could do this, but what about when the vehicle starts to depreciate and it's not as fuel-efficient as you thought it would be? And subconsciously, because you know you have a car that gets more mileage out of fuel, you are going to start traveling more miles than you traveled before.

How about getting up earlier each morning to look for the cheapest gas prices in the area?

Really, who has the time for all that? If you really think about it, you would probably spend your time more profitably finding the right answer to the real question. Do you really want to spend extra time looking for a cheap fuel station? What would your boss think if you arrive late for work and tell him you were trying to save money on petrol? And anyway, how long do you think you'll keep doing that?

Should I find a way to run my car on batteries?

Well, let's see now, you definitely don't want to have to charge your car's batteries every day before you go to work because that might make you late as well. However, with a hybrid car, you wouldn't have to worry about that. Therefore, the next question should be quite obvious.

How about buying a hybrid car?

Perhaps you should. It's possible that buying a hybrid car would be a sensible way to avoid paying higher petrol costs. Will your car depreciate right after you drive it off the forecourt? A hybrid won't do that so readily because it brings the buyer in more and more money as they save on gas. A hybrid car just could be a good choice here. However, it is always a good idea to conduct further research on a hybrid car.
