The 2010 CR-V Is A Reliable And Quality Crossover SUV

By Jacqueline Star

Honda is well known for its functional and economical cars and the CR-V is no different. The CR-V is a competitively priced SUV that offers Honda's renowned reliability, good gas mileage and a good deal monetary wise. For 2010 this vehicle receives a few changes on the outside including a new front grille, an updated bumper and a new set of shiny seventeen inch alloy wheels with ten spokes. Loading this car up is fairly easy thanks to its lightweight lift-up tailgate. This vehicle competes in the competitive crossover SUV segment and goes head to head with the Ford Escape and the Toyota RAV4.

The engine that powers the CR-V is a 2.4 Liter four cylinder and puts out 180 horsepower and 161 lb feet of torque. It's not a super past machine by any means but shoppers attracted to the CR-V will be attracted to its functionality, reliability and relatively low cost. When it comes to gas mileage, it gets 21 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway, pretty good for a SUV. This automobile handles the road well and acceleration is easy to the extra fourteen Horsepower added to the engine compared to the previous year's model.

The CR-V is available in four different trims : LX, EX, EX-L and EX-L. All models come equipped with an air conditioning system, keyless entry, a stereo system with a CD player, a cruise control system and a telescoping steering wheel. Cargo space is generous with a total of 35.7 cubic feet. The top of the line EX-L version includes mirrors that can be heated, seats crafted out of luxurious leather, compatibility with most mp3 music players, temperature controlled front seats and a premium audio system. A navigation system can also be added at an additional cost which includes compatibility with Bluetooth devices and allows you to place phone calls without using your hands.

Many safety precautions were taken in order to maximize the safety of the driver and passengers. An Anti Lock Brake System prevents the wheels from locking up and a Tire Pressure Monitoring system alerts you when your tire pressure needs adjusting. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering structure was engineered to distribute impact force more evenly during impact and provides for superior passenger protection. The seat belts utilize pretensioners which automatically tighten the belt during an impending collision. There is also an airbag system.

Additional bonuses include good gas mileage plus trunk space is increased to 72.9 cubic feet with the rear seats down. The base price starts at approximately $21k, a competitive price in the crossover SUV niche.
